Golfer Smith hauls in prestigious scholarship

McPherson High School has been no stranger to its fair share of awards throughout the years, but a student- athlete amongst the Bullpup ranks added another award to that lengthy list as girls golf player Amber Smith became one of just 34 students state-wide to earn the 2023 KSHSAA True Blue Scholarship.

Celebrating 15 years of success in McPherson

Gem and Mineral Swap this past weekend

From raw stones to polished and cut statues and jewelry, the McPherson Gem and Mineral Swap was the place to be for all things earthy this past weekend. Twenty-plus vendors from across the country filled the 4-H Building, with more outside.

Frances L. Pauls passed away peacefully and went to her heavenly home at the age of 97, on Sunday, May 7, 2023, at Harvest House, Pleasant View Home, in Inman, Kansas. Frances was born on January 6, 1926, to Isaac D. Dirks and Marie (Janzen) Dirks. She grew up south of Buhler, attended Willow Grove Grade School and graduated from Buhler High School. Frances trusted Christ as her Savior and was baptized at Finamore Lake southeast of Buhler. On October 24, 1944, Frances was united in marriage to John R. Pauls of Inman. They had 4 children and enjoyed 58 wonderful years together. Frances enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, and preparing wonderful meals. She loved flowers and would plant big flower gardens. They enjoyed traveling together, and spending time with family and
