County Commission hears program updates

Chuck Laughlin, McPherson County Extension Office updated County Commissioners on activities throughout the month of March during Monday’s meeting. The extension office holds monthly Teach and Taste classes with the March recipe of mini quiche cups.

Area roundup: Busy week for County athletes

It has been a steady week of events for the six McPherson County area high schools as the 2023 spring sports season is now in full speed ahead mode. Eighteen total events put times, innings, throws, hits, jumps and overhead shots into the record books for the week.

Artist-in-Residence Brian Hinkle

This April 9th-16th, Wichita artist Brian Hinkle will be Artist-in-Residence at Red Barn Studio Museum. Hinkle shared that his experience during the residency is always influenced by the colorful and extraordinary studio environment created by Lester Raymer, as well as the changing weather. He plans to paint in response to those influences and draw inspiration from multiple sources. Although he usually paints in oils, Brian intends to paint in various media and draw and, he jokes, perhaps even play the mandolin during his residency.

McPherson College hosts most unique car show in the Midwest

One-of-a-kind classic automobiles will be on display during the 23rd Annual C.A.R.S. Club Motoring Festival at McPherson College on Saturday, May 6, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. A few of the cars expected on the field this year include the 1951 GM LeSabre concept car, the 1969 Chevrolet Astro III concept, and a 2024 Chevrolet all-electric Blazer EV SS, all from the General Motors collection, as well as a 1955 Ghia Gilda.

Lady Pups grind out fifth straight win

For the second straight game and fourth time this season, the McPherson High School girls soccer team gritted out a onescore game as they defeated one of 4A’s best in Topeka Hayden 1-0 Monday afternoon.
