Agatha Smyers Scholarship for the Service Professions

The Inman Scholarship Foundation is seeking applicants for the Agatha Smyers Scholarship for a student who is interested in the service industry, which could include: educators, clergy, social services, registered nursing, physical therapy, physicians or dentists. The scholarship will be awarded based upon achievement in college, financial need, potential to make an impact on others and involvement in leadership and community service.

Discussion of street maintenance at City Commission Meeting

During the Public Input Session at the McPherson City Commission Meeting March 21, McPherson resident Dennis Houghton said he has noticed a decline or decay of the city streets in the past ten years. “I don’t think that we’ve really done the job that we should be doing as far as the maintenance of sealing cracks and potholes,” Houghton said.

Finding inexpensive daycare for children of school age is a difficulty for many parents in McPherson County. Parents have a choice for after-school care as well as care on days when school is not in session thanks to the McPherson YMCA Y-Kids program.

Boeskers turn bees into sweet deal

Cassie and Keith Boesker transformed their interest in bees and bee behavior into their business, The Queenz Hive. The Boeskers were co-owners of a different local bee and honey company for three years but decided to venture out on their own this year.

MHS track & field reloads for state run

Coming into the 2023 track and field season, McPherson will be without 2022 class 4A high jump state champion Seth Madron due to graduation. However, the Bullpups will lean on several returning athletes with state experience to lead their new squad.
