Auditions for Summer Musical

This year, McPherson Community Theatre (MCT) will be performing “Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Oklahoma!” as their summer musical. They will be holding auditions for all roles March 25th from 10-4 and March 26th from 1-4 at Central Christian College’s Wesley Black fine arts center, 1200 S Main Street, McPherson. Community members age 14 and up are encouraged to audition.

Train derails at CHS

A train derailed Sunday morning at CHS Refinery in McPherson, leaking denatured alcohol and causing a small grass fire. The McPherson Fire Department was dispatched to the 1200 block of South Main Street shortly before 9:45 a.m.

McPherson College’s Power Day 2023 met all the goals set for the annual online giving day, raising $330,000 for scholarships and programs. In its ninth year, more than 350 alumni and friends of the college made gifts that helped unlock five matching challenges that totaled over $90,000.

County Commission adds food sale issue to ballot

Ian Smith, Three Rings Brewery approached the McPherson County Commission with a request to add an amendment to Resolution 32-99 to the general ballot in November. Resolution 32-99, Section 6-267, Sub-section C states: an establishment which is licensed to sell cereal malt beverage on the premises has to derive not less than 30% of its gross receipts from the sale of food for consumption on the licensed premises.
