YMCA receives award

The McPherson Family YMCA was honored at the Safe Kids Kansas Annual Meeting with an Outstanding Partnership for Child Safety award.The award was presented on December 5 by Safe Kids Kansas in recognition of the McPherson Family YMCA’s commitment to reducing accidental injuries to children.In the spring of 2023, the McPherson Family YMCA established a Life Jacket Loaner Station within the YMCA facility.

Revolution Church Hosts Chamber Ribbon Cutting

Revolution Free Methodist Church staff, congregants, and community members gathered December 5th to celebrate the church’s expanded space with a Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting.“Faith is a strong pillar of our community in McPherson so thank you for everything you are doing to continue to enrich our community with that,” said Chamber president-elect Carlyn Lemon as she invited Revolution Church’s lead pastor, Steve Gray, to the podium and presented him with a certificate of appreciation.Gray shared that the church launched just before Covid shut everything down in 2020, bringing their attendance down from 150 their first Sunday to nothing within three weeks.

Housing Coalition to begin study

The McPherson Housing Coalition (MHC) is excited to begin their next project, a county-wide housing study in conjunction with the McPherson County Housing Task force (MCHTF).Every community in McPherson County will be included in the study which will tell the organizations what type of housing each community currently has, what condition current housing is in, what housing needs they may have, and the projections for each community in the county.

Organizations help community

This edition has a lot of Christmas news, but this might be the most important one.The McPherson Community puts in a lot of time and effort to make sure everyone in the community is remembered at Christmas.The McPherson Police Department provides gifts to local school children and their families through the Blue Santa Program.
