OMEGA Award Becomes Optimist Award

What began in 2005 by the McPherson Chamber of Commerce as the OMEGA (Outstanding McPherson area Eighth Grade Award) to recognize 8th grade students for making a difference in our community through their compassionate gestures, positive attitudes, considerate actions, and courage to overcome life’s challenges, will now be organized by the McPherson Optimist Club.

Site connects community with resources

An effort aimed at simplifying the process of locating resources in McPherson County has been completed by the McPherson County Community Coalition.The interactive database, McPherson County Resources, offers connections to local providers in areas like childcare, health care, disability services, mental health, food, and programs for addiction and recovery, among others.

Newberry announces retirement

McPherson Hospital announced that current president and CEO, Lewis Newberry, made the decision to retire, effective Friday, February 9.Newberry was named CEO in September of 2022 after serving as the hospital’s Chief Financial Officer prior to being named CEO.Newberry shared that retirement is something that has been on his mind for months now, and stated “when you start thinking about retiring, you already have”.The hospital Board of Trustees thanks Lew for two great years of service, the first 7 months as CFO and the remaining time as CEO.
