Friends of Maxwell celebrates 30 years

Friends of Maxwell (FoM) celebrated their 30th year being an open to the public nonprofit 501c3 organization on November 10 with a ceremony at Maxwell Wildlife Refuge Visitor’s Center.FoM assists the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP) in fulfilling the Maxwell family’s dream of preserving a piece of the prairie with a roaming herd of bison for future generations to experience Kansas as it was in the 1800s.“We wanted to present a plaque to the founders and KDWP, the directors and managers, birders, and native plant people who have done so much over the years in recording facts on the refuge and helping preserve this wonderful piece of land,” said Trisha Smith Friends of Maxwell Director.
