The Kansas Department of Transportation has begun a resurfacing project on about 13 miles of U.S. 56 in McPherson County. A mill and overlay on U.S. 56 will occur from the K-153/U.S. 56 junction and continue west to the Rice/McPherson County line. During construction, flaggers and a pilot car will direct one lane of traffic through the work zone. Drivers should be prepared for a delay of up to 15 minutes and plan extra time in their travel schedules. Pearson Construction LLC. of Wichita is the prime contractor for this $4.7 million project which is scheduled for completion by September, weather permitting. KDOT urges all motorists to be alert and obey the warning signs when approaching and driving through a highway work zone. To stay aware of all road construction projects across Kansas, go to www.kandrive.org or call 5-1-1.
