Homeschool students in the McPherson area and students from the Moundridge Middle School Aviation Club had the opportunity to fly on March 24 at McPherson Airport. Stephen Carty from Chapter 1344 of Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) came to McPherson Airport on Friday to bring aviation to the younger generation.
Marci Ruxlow, kindergarten teacher at Eisenhower Elementary, has been teaching for 15 years. She spent four years in the Blue Valley School District before coming back to her hometown of McPherson. Since moving back, she spent 10 years as a special education teacher working with students from preschool through second grade and is now in her fifth year of teaching kindergarten.
A vision, 10 years in the making, has come true for students, alumni, and employees of the McPherson College Automotive Restoration program — the only four-year bachelor’s degree program for automotive restoration in the nation. The 1953 Mercedes-Benz 300 S Cabriolet, entirely restored by students, has been accepted by the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and will be shown there on August 20.
The McPherson County Community Foundation (MCCF) has announced the final totals of their Match Week event. Between Mar. 6-10 over $590,000, with match included, was raised to help build the endowments of 44 county nonprofits. This total breaks the record of $386,000 set by the foundation just last year.
