Highlights from the City Commission Meeting March 7, 2023

McPherson High School Assistant Principal Dr. Megan Hagaman has earned the 3rd Diamond Degree of Membership in the National Speech and Debate Association’s Honor Society.

KSPA hands out awards to best work from among thousands of entries The Kansas Scholastic Press Association is proud to announce the winners of the 2023 Regional Contests, which rewarded the best student journalism from among more than 2,000 entries gathered from around the state. In the Regional Contest, students from 73 different schools competed in 26 different categories in 11 different classifications organized by geography and school size.
The McPherson Community Coalition and McPherson County Community Foundation in conjunction with parents and other area organizations are seeking input to foster change in the county’s childcare. Discussions with schools, local law enforcement, and parents brought to light the lack of quality, affordable childcare in McPherson County.
Mai Thy Jesseph is USD 418’s food service manager and kitchen manager at McPherson Middle School. Jesseph has been working in child nutrition for ten years, eight of which have been in public schools.
A McPherson business with deep roots in the community is making a significant investment in McPherson College’s most ambitious building campaign. Peoples Bank and Trust has committed $500,000 toward the college’s signature building project – the Campus Commons. In appreciation of the gift, the third-floor Welcome Center in the building will be named the People’s Bank and Trust Welcome Center.
The February meeting of the Country Cousins 4-H club was held on Feb.7, 2023, at the Groveland Christian Church. The meeting was called to order by club Co-President Macy Reiff. The meeting started with the 4-H pledge and the pledge of Allegiance, which were led by Owen Sawyer and Nora Reiff.
