KDOT requests comments on STIP amendment

The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) requests comments on an amendment to the FFY 2023-2026 Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) document. The STIP is a project specific publication that lists all KDOT administered projects, regardless of funding source, and includes projects for counties and cities as well as projects on the State Highway System.

New Artist-in-Residence at Red Barn Studio: Shin-hee Chin

Fiber artist, Shin-hee Chin, McPherson, KS, will be at the Red Barn Studio, 212 S. Main, Lindsborg, as Artist-In-Residence from December 2022 through January 28, 2023, preparing a body of work for a solo show at the Mingenback Art Center Gallery at Bethany College, scheduled for the fall of 2023. Some of her work is exploring the creativity and freedom inherent in music and giving it a visible form.

Once Christmas is over, what happens to the tree?

Christmas trees bring Christmas glee, but they can bring even more than that once the holiday season is past, says Kansas State University forester Charlie Barden. “An old Christmas tree can be used to benefit birds, fish and the landscape by placing it in a corner of your deck, and spreading some birdseed nearby, or tying it to a deciduous tree or post near a bird feeder,” he said.

Northwestern Announces Honor Roll for Fall 2022

Fall semester honor rolls at Northwestern Oklahoma State University have been announced by the office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs. Those on the President’s Honor Roll earned all A’s, or a 4.0 grade point average (GPA), in a minimum of 12 undergraduate or nine graduate hours. Those on the Vice President’s list had grade point averages of 3.5 or better in a minimum of 12 undergraduate or nine graduate hours.

Pink Patch Project wraps up for 2022

On Dec. 20, Women and Children Combating Cancer in McPherson County was presented funds from both the McPherson County Sheriff’s Office and McPherson Police Department. Both departments have been doing a fundraiser called the Pink Patch Project, to bring awareness to breast cancer and cancer in women and children for the local foundation.

Lindsborg Museum meets $50,000 Match Challenge

Thanks to generous support from 74 distinct gifts from individuals, families, and organizations, museum supporters have successfully met the $50,000 Match Challenge! While Caroline de Filippis, Community Development Director, thanked everyone who donated to make the achievement possible, Lenora Lynam, the museum’s Executive Director, offered a special message of gratitude. “We would like to send a sincere thank you to our anonymous donor for making this a very Merry Christmas for us,” she said in a video that museum staff released on social media on Thursday evening.
