On Sept. 22, Midway Motors McPherson kicked off their grand re-opening with a Chamber of Commerce ribbon- cutting ceremony and pancake feed provided by Chris Cakes and spoke about the new facilities and sale events throughout the weekend.
PJ’s Bar and Grill is planning to open in Little River before the annual fall festival in October. The family-owned establishment has been under remodel since June and will be ready for business soon according to co-owner Paul Sigsbee.
On Saturday, Sept. 24 the McPherson County Community Foundation will host the annual Suicide Prevention and Awareness Walk from 9 am to 12 pm at Memorial Park.
This weekend, Friday, Sept. 23 through Sunday, Sept. 25 Maxwell Wildlife Refuge is having their 29th Annual Mountain Man Rendezvous. The event will be hosted by the Friends of Maxwell and is a three- day experience featuring 1800’s re-enactments from Mountain Men, trappers, traders and flintknappers and will feature 20-40 encampments.
TOPEKA — An independent evaluation of the Kansas foster care system shows the state is improving the stability of children in state custody but breaking its promise to end the practice of children sleeping in offices overnight.
The first responders in the city of McPherson had a night full of support from the community for their third annual event at Lakeside Park on Sept. 15. Provided to the public were food, drinks, activities, and a charity raffle. Tables were set up throughout the park with information about different rescue/health businesses in the area.
On Sept. 13 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm there was a community meeting in the McPherson High School commons area about the future facility planning. There was a presentation of current trends in facilities nationwide. The board is restarting the bond planning process to accommodate community involvement and feedback throughout. The next community meeting will be Oct. 4 at 6:00 pm.

To be eligible for the award, according to the Kansas State of Department Education, teachers must have successfully completed their first year of teaching the year prior and have performed in a way that distinguishes themselves outstanding.
On Sept. 14 there was a Chrysanthemum delivery at the Windom Greenhouse in Windom, Kans., and the sale was put on by teachers and staff of Windom Elementary School. Grade schoolers helped unload the truck so that those who ordered the mums could pick them up later in the afternoon.
