Stroke Survivors Saturdays

YOUR COMMUNITY, YOUR NEWS The Stroke Survivors social group meets almost every Saturday around 1 pm at Craft Coffee Parlor at 120 N Main Street in McPherson, Kans. The group is for stroke survivors and their family members to share their experiences with others who have gone through similar situations and to offer each other support on their journey to recovery.

Dean Coughenour Trust Gifts $1.5 Million to McPherson College

McPherson College public relations important McPherson benefit generosity student. Dean Trust to establish scholarship support The idea of “paying it forward” was important to Dean Coughenour,a 1951 graduate of McPherson College, and a recent gift made to the college will ensure that students benefit from the same generosity he received as astudent.

APT 6 raises $50,000 for Opera House

APT 6 Resale and Consignment Shop recently presented a check for $50,524.00 that was raised in this last fiscal year. Pictured from left to right are APT 6 Volunteer Manger, Susan Meng, and Opera House President, Denise O’Connor-Munsey. APT 5 is a non-profit business fully staffed by volunteers, who take in donated and consigned items and sell them to benefit the Opera House. Donations of furniture, accessories, jewelry, clothing, art, home goods and décor are greatly appreciated. Volunteers are also needed to sort inventory, assist with pricing, work the cash register, and display merchandise. The current shop hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Call 620-241-1952 or visit mcphersonoperahouse.org for more information. Lindsborg Museum Seeks Input On Honoring Ailing Tree Which Requires Removal

Lindsborg Old Mill & Swedish Heritage Museum The Lindsborg Old Mill & Swedish Heritage Museum is asking the community for ideas for how to honor a more than 100-year-old elm tree on museum grounds that has to be removed, as well as putting out a special call for assistance in covering the unexpected expense. Lenora Lynam, Executive Director of the museum, said that removing the tree is the last thing the museum wants to do, but that there is little choice.

Winner of the Yardline

During the Little River vs Rural Vista football game Friday, Sept. 10, People’s Bank and Trust sponsored a Veterans tailgate meal and a $100 yardline raffle. The raffle was a fundraiser for Little River High School Student Council. Community members who purchased a ticket picked a line on the football field and the one who chose the winning line won $100. Crissy Olander of Little River, Kansas picked the winning yard line. The prize was awarded to Olander by StuCo representative, Peyton Erickson. All proceeds from the raffle will be used to put on fun activities for the 22-23 school year. It was a great night to be a Redskin, as they started off with honoring veterans and ended the night beating Rural Vista 57-6.
