Lady Pups volleyball takes fourth at state

HUTCHINSON, Kansas – One year removed from finishing as state runners-up, the McPherson High School volleyball team regained its postseason form by advancing to day two of the class 4A state volleyball tournament before finishing in fourth place.McPherson’s runner-up finish to Bishop Miege at the 2023 class 4A state volleyball tournament appeared to pave the way for similar success heading into the 2024 season, but the Lady Pups stumbled out of the gates to a 2-6 record as consistency eluded them.Since the first of October, however, McPherson found its form that had led them to the state championship match a season ago by winning 14 of their final 18 matches to end the regular season.McPherson carried that momentum into postseason play where they defeated No.

Spooky Season events kick off

Trick or Treat Main Street 2024 was a great start to the Halloween season, bringing the community together for some spooky fun.The annual event brought all sorts of ghosts, ghouls, goblins, Pokémon, puppies, princesses and more to downtown McPherson on Thursday night.

Area roundup: County schools near fall conclusion

The 2024 fall sports season is quickly winding down as all six of the McPherson County area smaller schools head into their regionals for both volleyball and cross country, while winding down to the final few weeks of football for five of the six.Among the highlights for the area schools, both Iman and Little River volleyball programs will head into regionals ranked first as the Lady Teutons are first in Class 2A and Little River in first in Class 1A Division I.
