Jerome Dean Goering, 63, was born at Moundridge Mercy Hospital in Moundridge, KS on September 21, 1959 to Homer and Dorothy (Ewert) Goering. He went to be with the Lord on February 28, 2023.

Barbara Laurine Masar, 76, passed away peacefully in Inman, KS on Feb 8, 2023. Barbara was born June 13, 1946 to Virginia Laurine Davis Fleming and Harold Joseph Fleming in Clarksburg, West Virginia. Barbara grew up in the Dallas, TX area and loved her dog, her dance classes, and her sisters deeply. Barbara attended Ursuline Academy and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Dallas, TX. She received her associates degree from Monticello College in Alton, IL. She met her future husband Pat Masar at 2nd base of a softball game while he served in the U.S.A.F. at the Colorado Springs Air Force Base and they were united in marriage March 1, 1969. Pat’s career led them to live overseas in Taiwan (where their sons were born), and Saudi Arabia and Indonesia. Their travels enabled them to explore England, Germany, France, Austria, Egypt, Bahrain, Seychelles, Italy, Greece, and Hong Kong. While the Masars lived on the east coast, west coast and midwest of the United States, their greatest love was for the mountains of Colorado, where they spent the majority of the years raising their family. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Virginia Davis Miller and Harold Fleming; her younger sister, Jean Davis Fleming Short Pevehouse; and her nephew, Brian Short. Barbara is survived by her beloved husband, Pat; her children, Patrick Jr (Jennifer) McPherson, KS; Kevin (Christina) Denver, CO; Christine (Clay) Burlington, CO; her 13 grandchildren Cora, Amelia, Margaret, Madison, April, Eve, Joey, Katarina, Tatum, Trenton, Tamlyn, Tobyn, and Tyler; her nephew, Robert Short III (Tina; and her older sister, Marilyn Patrice Fleming of Dallas, TX. Barbara had a sharp wit, a quick tongue, a sweet tooth, and always kept a tidy home and fashionable appearance. Her love for dogs continued into adulthood and she raised several over the years. Jenee Clarise Enochs, 67, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, surrounded by family at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. Aside from being a homemaker, Jenee was a daycare provider and worked in food service at McPherson College and at McPherson Hospital.
Wayne John Reif, beloved community figure, family-man and friend, passed away on the winter solstice, December 21, 2022 in Newton, Kansas at the age of 83. Born in Hesston, Kansas on January 6, 1939, to Theodore and Anna (Lee) Reif, Wayne is survived by 3 children from his 1st marriage; Tracey Carrier, Shelly Reif and Christina Goold, grandchildren Sarah and Cameron Carrier. Second wife Peggy Reif, stepchildren Kari and Doug Sebastian, step-grandchildren Kami Burgess and Kaci Smalley and seven beloved step-great-granddaughters. Wayne also embraced lifelong family friend Harlan Schmidt as a son. Wayne was preceded in death by parents Ted and Anna Reif, siblings Gail Reif and Donna Coughlin and first wife Sharon Reif. Wayne graduated Newton High and soon after the Kansas School of Barbering. He opened Hesston, and Moundridge Barber Shops with the intention of funding art school in Kansas City, for which he’d received a scholarship. In the mid-70’s, he expanded the Hesston shop to a co-ed salon and renamed it “Hair Cutting Company.” In 1981 he opened “Hair Cutting Company” on Main Street, Newton, where he served a large and loyal community for decades. His salon career spanned over 60 years, during which he also served as inspector for the Kansas Board of Barbering. Many of his adult clients tell the story of getting their first haircut from Wayne. In 2009, he sold the shop to his top stylist Shannon Reinert, but kept working another ten years. He reluctantly retired at 80. Born on a farm in Hesston, he was named by his brother Gail, an avid fan of John Wayne. In his youth, he worked on his parents’ farm and traveled by horse to attend a one room rural schoolhouse. In later years he was locally known for his mischievous antics and fun-loving pranks. He went on to travel the globe, exploring dozens of countries over many decades.
