McPHERSON — The Bethel College men’s basketball team was held to seven points in the final 13:53 of play, falling to McPherson College 59-58 Monday night in KCAC play in McPherson. Bethel led by as many as 15 in the first half.
The Kansas Basketball Coaches Association released its annual preseason rankings for the boys and girls Monday. Many of the No. 1 teams are reigning state champions, but there are some changes and some surprises.
For KSHSAA Football State Championship Weekend, two area teams made a play for state titles — Inman in class 2A and Little River in Eight Man Div. I.
The Meade Buffaloes took a 16-0 lead on its first two plays and held off Little River for a 22-14 win Saturday in the Eight-Man Division I championship game at Fischer Field. Little River was held scoreless in the red zone several times in the game.
HAYS – The Olpe Eagles crowd chanted, “Green machine, green machine, green machine,” a rendition of Mean Machine from The Longest Yard. Olpe (13-0) used a dominant ground attack to flourish its way to a second consecutive state championship, beating the previously undefeated Inman Teutons (12-1) 35-6 in the Class 1A Kansas state high school football championship game Saturday at Fort Hays State’s Lewis Field Stadium.

Doug Kretzer begins his twenty-sixth season with the Bullpup program and his eleventh as the man in charge.
MCPHERSON – After several seasons as the little train that could in knocking off the big boy competition despite not having their own pool to practice in, the McPherson boys swim team looks to rebuild for 2021-22.

LAWRENCE — Kansas football came up short Saturday on the road in a Big 12 Conference matchup against TCU, losing 31-28. The Jayhawks (2-9, 1-7 in Big 12) erased a 14-point deficit in the fourth quarter to tie the score 28-28 late.
Jason Bean touched the football twice Saturday, during the first quarter of Kansas’ 31-28 road loss at TCU. The first time came on the Jayhawks’ third offensive drive of the game.
