Lady Pups place fourth at 30th annual MAC

The 30th annual Mid-America Classic (MAC) came to a close on Saturday this past weekend, and with it came a fourth-place finish for the McPherson High School girls basketball team as the Lady Pups fell to Hutchinson in the third-place game to end their tournament run. Since suffering a 50-32 home loss to Mulvane to begin the 2025 portion of its season, McPherson has formed itself into a formidable opponent throughout the month of January as wins over Winfield (51-24) and El Dorado (55-29) gave McPherson a two-game winning streak heading into the MAC.

Late rally not enough as Bullpups fall in MIT final

Less than 24 hours after delivering an electric walk-off finish to reach the McPherson Invitational Tournament championship game, the McPherson High School boys basketball team ran out of magic against Blue Valley West as a late rally fell short in a 54-47 loss. Roughly 18 hours before Saturday’s MIT championship game tipped off at 3:45 P.M., McPherson found itself locked in a tight battle against 6A’s Shawnee Mission East in the MIT semifinals after reaching that point by defeating Manhattan 78-53 win the opening round.

Wildcat boys take first, girls second in Trojan Classic debut

HILLSBORO, Kansas – With the annual Canton-Galva and Sedgwick mid-season tournaments disbanded, the Moundridge boys and girls basketball teams were in need of a place to play. Following this week’s Trojan Classic, it’s safe to say that the Wildcats have found a new mid-season tournament home as the Moundridge boys took first while the girls finished second.
