INMAN, Kansas – Two McPherson County softball teams will be represented at their respective state tournaments this week, and one of those teams will be coming from Inman as the Teutons are back in the class 2A-1A state tournament after defeating Bennington for the regional title. The two softball teams that will be advancing to state in McPherson County are the McPherson Lady Pups (class 4A) and the Inman Teutons.
ABILENE, Kansas – America’s largest high school track and field event is now waiting on deck, and the McPherson Bullpups will be competing in 18 different events on that stage as the McPherson boys finished third and the girls fourth at regionals in Abilene last week. The 2025 high school track and field season has finally neared its end with the state meet approaching this weekend.
Grant Sports Complex on Tuesday evening was the place to be not only because both the McPherson High School softball and baseball teams clenched a spot in state but also because the Lady Pups did so in undefeated style, as wins over Clay Center and Mulvane propelled McPherson to a regional championship. As the 2025 softball season has wore on, a special season appeared to be unfolding in McPherson during head coach Daryl Hoelting’s first year as skipper of the Lady Pups.
Words are often hard to come by when dealing with the emotions of a season coming to an end, but Thursday’s 2-1 regional championship loss to Topeka Hayden for the McPherson High School girls soccer team does not define what the 2025 team and senior class was able to accomplish. After closing the regular season with an 11-5 record, McPherson entered Thursday night as the No.
For most of the area softball and baseball teams, the season has come to an end while the Inman softball team will be the second seed at the Class 2-1A state playoffs, sporting a record of 22-1.
