Eula Mae Goodfellow

Eula Mae Goodfellow(February 11, 1935-February 10, 2022): abundance of energy, never met a stranger, loved to travel, generously practiced hospitality. Eula Mae passed away peacefully surrounded by family from a fast-moving cancer. She is forever loved by her husband, Don, and children: Kristen Higgins of Beatrice NE, and Teresa and Joel Miller of St. John KS; eight grandchildren: Jenny & Derek Grandfield, Kate Higgins, Laura & Tad Lazechko, Mike & Tara Higgins, Jim & Callie Higgins, Kim & Dylan Behrends, Dustin Miller, Grant & Courtney Miller; and sixteen great grandchildren.

Eula Mae enjoyed her experience as an International Farm Youth Exchange student to Belgium during college and gained lifelong friends. All her life she was a travel enthusiast planning many family vacations. Don & Eula Mae participated in mission trips, disaster relief cleanups, group tour vacations around the world & numerous motorcycle excursions.

She was an avid 4-H supporter, worked in the Lyons High School & District 405 offices for 23 years, was a dedicated farm wife & mom, and excelled at preparing & bringing delicious meals to the harvest field. She was actively involved in numerous church activities & committees and enjoyed attending her children’s & grandchildren’s events. Eula Mae loved sharing her opinions & giving advice. You knew where you stood with her. She was passionate about life to the end, even doing arm aerobics in her hospital bed.

She was preceded in death by her parents- Chester & Pearl Murrey, son- Greg, son-in-law – Kirk Higgins, sister- Betty Ann Porter & great grandson – Archer Higgins.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, rural Lyons, with Pastor Rob Bolton officiating. A private family burial will be at Lyons Municipal Cemetery, Lyons. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 P.M., Friday, February 18, 2022, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons with family present from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the designated memorials: Kansas 4-H Foundation, Ebenezer UMC, McPherson College, or Heifer International.
