Inman USD 448 closes schools due to shots fired, subject taken into custody

Early this morning, residents near the Inman USD 448 schools reported hearing gunshots in the 300 block of Maple Street, northeast of Inman High School. The school district decided to close all schools for the day to ensure the safety of students and staff.

The McPherson County Sheriff’s Office, McPherson County Special Response Team, and Inman Police responded promptly to the reports. Officers searched the area and located and apprehended a person of interest in the incident. The subject was taken into custody without further incident.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and the McPherson County Sheriff’s Office has stated that they will provide updates as more information becomes available.

Inman USD 448 released a statement expressing gratitude for law enforcement’s swift response and the community’s cooperation.

“The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. We are thankful for the prompt action taken by law enforcement and the support of our community during this time,” the statement read.
