A McPherson County man is facing serious charges after being arrested last week on multiple counts of child exploitation.
Antonio Carranza, 30, was arrested and booked into the McPherson County Jail on April 24. He is facing four separate charges under K.S.A. 21-5510(a)(4) — a statute that prohibits the promotion of performances involving sexually explicit conduct by a child under the age of 18 or someone believed to be a minor.
According to the criminal complaint filed by the McPherson County District Attorney’s Office, Carranza is accused of promoting or distributing multiple explicit files between October and December of 2024. Each count involves separate digital files, both images and videos, that prosecutors allege depict child sexual exploitation.
The complaint states that Carranza knowingly promoted these performances with full awareness of their explicit nature. If convicted, Carranza faces a mandatory minimum of 25 years in prison for each count, with the potential for a life sentence. Additionally, the statute carries a maximum fine of $500,000 per conviction, and these mandatory sentences cannot be reduced by good time credits.
The case is currently under investigation, and further details have not yet been made public.
Carranza remains in custody as of Monday.
Editor’s Note: Due to the nature of the charges and to protect the integrity of ongoing investigations, specific details about the victims including their ages or identities have not been disclosed. All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
