Marjorie F. Goertzen

Marjorie F. Goertzen, 84, of Buhler, Kansas, passed away Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Harry Hynes Hospice, Wichita, Kansas. She was born on August 23, 1938 in McPherson, Kansas, the daughter of Dewey Cullen and Lottie (Rump) Slabach.

She graduated from Inman High School with the class of 1956.

Marjorie was united in marriage to Wayne A. Goertzen on September 14, 1958. He survives of the home.

She was a member of the Monitor Church of the Brethren, rural Conway, Kansas.

Marjorie worked at Buhler Sunshine Home for over 30 years, holding many positions including her longest position as activity director.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne; four children, Rebecca Lynn (Myron) Ratzlaff, Julie Ann (Jim) Nauss, Lyle J. (Natalie) Goertzen, and Wendell Wayne (Terri) Goertzen; grandchildren, Laura (Caleb) Evans, Lisa (Philip) Snell and their five children; Luke (Chelsea) Ratzlaff, and their four children; Christian Nauss, McKenna Nauss, Hank Goertzen, Lyndsey (Kent) Duerksen, and Jack (Lexi) Goertzen; and sister, Hazel Ekholm.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Pauline Scott and Thelma Barcus; and brother, Kenneth Slabach.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 9, 2022 at Monitor of the Brethren Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, December 8, at Buhler Mortuary, with family present from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Monitor Church of the Brethren or Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community in care of Buhler Mortuary, PO Box 589, Buhler, KS 67522.
