After bowling 55 years at Starlight Lanes, John “JK” Miller was inducted into the McPherson Men’s Bowling Association Hall of Fame on Aug. 8 in front of the other Hall of Fame members.
Miller says he has been bowling with Starlight since the alley’s opening back in the late 1960’s. His highest average series was 718, and he holds a high score of 299 in a singular game, one away from a perfect game.
Miller is also an avid member of the McPherson Men’s City Bowling Tournament that is held annually, and says his favorite memory in 55 years is his latest one; being inducted into the Hall of Fame.
“I would like to thank Cliff (Hutts owner of Starlite Lanes) for keeping the place in order and allowing us all to have fun.” Miller said.
Miller is currently Vice President of the Mac County Bowling League on Thursdays, and says his responsibilities include taking the president’s place at the weekly meetings on the rare occasions the president does not show.
Miller is also working on his second term as City Associate Vice President.
The Starlite Lanes Bowling League season will begin in October and end in March.
