Central Christian College Athletic Director Twiggs Reed is pleased to announce the hiring of Ashlee Annis as the next head coach for the CCC cheerleading program.
Annis takes over the helm of the cheer squad replacing Travis Godfrey, who announced his resignation earlier this month.
Cheerleading has been a part of Annis’ life since she was four years old. She cheered competitively at Dixie M. Hollins High School in Kenneth City, Florida, graduating in 2010.
After high school, she continued her competitive cheer career at Tabor College in Hillsboro. While at Tabor, she helped the Bluejays to second and fourth place finishes at the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Association Cheer Invitational. In her cheer career she was an NCA All-American nominee, UCA All-American and a member of the 2010 All-County cheer squad in Pinellas County, Florida.
During her junior year at Tabor, Annis helped grow the Bluejay cheer squad from just a handful of participants to a team of over 20, as a student-coach.
“I’m excited to welcome Coach Annis as our new cheer coach,” Reed said. “Coach Annis was a competitive cheerleader in college, and comes to us with an enthusiasm and passion for the sport of cheer. I look forward to watching her build a competitive cheer program here at Central Christian College.”
Annis is excited about the future of the CCC cheer program.
“I believe we have the opportunity for greatness in this program,” Annis said. “We have the support of the entire athletic department and campus. My goal in the coming years is to develop Central Christian College cheer into a dynamic competitive program with athletes who act out their faith on and off the mat.”
Prior to coming to Central, Annis worked in the admissions department at Sterling College, where she gained a wealth of knowledge and experience in recruiting athletes to a small college campus.
Since her hire a little over a week ago, she has hit the ground running. She is currently in the process of preparing for the 2016-2017 season and already recruiting next year’s class of CCC cheerleaders.
