The family of Arnold Victor “Vic” Hedberg requests a card shower in celebration of his 90th birthday Sept. 2. Cards may be sent to 390 Smoky Valley Road, Marquette, KS 67464.
Vic was born to John F. and Alice (Milner) Hedberg in Loveland, Colorado. Vic had one brother, Leonard, who is deceased.
Vic grew up in Masonville, Colorado and gradutated from Loveland, Colorado. After serving two years in the U.S. Army in Japan during World War II, Vic moved to Marquette, where he met and married Erika Marlene “Boots” Jost on June 9, 1949.
Vic and Boots spent the early years of their marriage in Colorado and Idaho before returning to the family farm in Marquette.
Vic and Boots were blessed with five children: Ken, Jackie, Tim, Quint and Matt. They shared 63 years together before Boots died on May 12, 2013.
Over the years, Vic supported his family by farming, raising cattle and was the owner and operator of Hedberg & Sons Trucking Company from 1960 to 1973.
At age 62, Vic proudly went to work as a rural mail carrier and retired at age 86.
Vic is currently the treasurer of the McPherson County Rural Fire District #2 fire board and is an active member of the American Legion, serving in the color guard at Memorial Day and at funerals. Vic also served USD 400 as a school board member and bus driver.

Grandchildren include Betsy (Curtis) Patrick, Lindsborg; Heath (Kristine) Larson, Wichita; Seth (Joyce) Larson, Broomfield, Colorado; Kylee Hedberg, Kansas City, Missouri; Kelly, Keith, Kegan and Kelsey Hedberg, Syracuse; Jill Hedberg, Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Luke, Ethan and Will Hedberg, Marquette; and Makaela Hedberg, Colby.
Great-grandchildren include Colter, Conway and Carly Patrick, Lindsborg and Mary, Andrew and Emil Larson, Wichita.
