More than 135 people attended the McPherson County Farm Bureau’s annual meeting to celebrate the county organization’s 100th anniversary.
The meeting was held the evening of Aug. 27 at Prairieland Partners in McPherson.
McPherson County Farm Bureau members and guests in attendance enjoyed a catered meal, entertainment by the McKinney Sisters of Moundridge, elected the 2016-2017 county’s Board of Directors and delegates to attend the 2016 Kansas Farm Bureau annual meeting to be held in December, and recognized past county presidents.
Kansas Farm Bureau President Richard Felts updated members in attendance about recent KFB actions and encouraged members to stay involved in sharing their farm stories.
Former Kansas Farm Bureau Vice President Edie Dahlsten of Lindsborg spoke of how she has witnessed agriculture change during her lifetime and shared some of her Farm Bureau memories before asking those in attendance to raise their glasses to join in a toast to the county organization.
McPherson County Farm Bureau is the first county Farm Bureau in the state of Kansas to celebrate their 100th anniversary. The McPherson County chapter started in 1916 — almost four years before a state-wide headquarters was established in Manhattan, Kansas.
The McPherson County Farm Bureau seeks to grow and support agricultural producers through education and policy.
