The Bethany College women’s basketball team took a one game break from conference play, making the short trip to McPherson to face the Central Christian College Tigers. The Swedes handedly put away the Tigers, 74-47.
The Swedes started on top and stayed there putting pressure on Central throughout the game. The Tigers were able to battle and keep the Swedes lead under 10 until the back end of the second quarter.
However, once Bethany broke the double-digit barrier they took off like a rocket. After scoring 11 points to the Tigers' one in the last three minutes of the half, the Swedes started out the third quarter on an 18-2 run through the first five minutes of the half. Central stayed tough through the fourth quarter and tried to get a late-game surge going as Bethany cooled off some, but the Swedes held tight and kept the game in their own control.
Samirah Miller led the Swedes with 17 points and four steals. Sydney Ahaneku helped out with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Same Ashida was the final Swede in double figures with 14 points.
The Tigers were led by Kelsey Grimaldo and Abbie Banks with 15 points a piece.
