WHITE CITY — With a better start, the Elyria Christian School boys basketball team probably would have left Rural Vista with a win.

But after falling behind 13-3 in the first quarter, the Eagles dug themselves in too big of a hole, falling 46-44.

“Another slow start for us tonight put us in a rough position having to expend so much energy to come back,” head coach Zach Goodrich said. “We are continuing to make improvements, and I’m excited to see these guys continue to grow.

The Eagles trailed 29-17 at halftime, but closed the gap to seven points entering the fourth quarter. ECS outscored Rural Vista 12-7 in the final eight minutes, but the pesky first quarter ended up being the dagger.

Tyler Thiessen led the way with 26 points on 10 of 21 shooting. Aidan Fields also scored 8 points.
