EL DORADO — It’s hard to stop the McPherson High School boys bowling team when they are on their A-Game.
Led by Clayton Ouellette, Taylor Miller and Jeff Reed, the Bullpups picked up a dual win over Circle, 2,473-2,238, Tuesday night in El Dorado. Ouellette, Miller and Reed all surpassed the 600 mark, while Matthew and Austin Stiggins exceeded the 500 mark.
Although Circle’s Spencer Raney was the top bowler with a 670, the Bullpups had the next five highest finishers en route to the win.
“It was a good day for most of the kids,” head coach Herb Halinski said. “They really improved on communicating with each other and myself. The last meet was kind of rough but the team put that behind them to move forward. We talked about living in the moment and only focusing on what is front of them; it worked.”
Ouellette bowled a 640 series headlined by a 246 first game. Miller finished with a 629 series capped off by a 225 and 226 in his final two games. Reed bowled a 603 series thanks to a 247 final game.
Matthew Stiggins (577), Austin Stiggins (542) and Devin Hartley (403) rounded out the order.
Kc Becker had the highest finish in the junior varsity match with a 633 series.
The McPherson High girls lost a tight one to Circle, 1,824-1,765. Alexis Kieffer continued to lead the way by bowling a 495 series. Ashley LaSalle finished with a 444 series.
The Bullpups return to Starlite Lanes on Thursday when they host El Dorado starting at 4 p.m.
