CANTON — A 36-15 halftime deficit was too much to overcome for the Canton-Galva High School boys basketball in a 59-34 loss to Sedgwick. The Eagles will look to salvage their home tournament with a win over St. John’s Military on Friday.

“We struggled controlling the tempo from the tip,” head coach Shane Duncan said. “They baited us into an up-and-down game; that’s not our style. We missed a lot of shots at the rim in the first half, in addition to not taking advantage of points from the line. Simply dug a hole in the first half that we couldn’t recover from.”

Sedgwick raced out to an 18-10 first quarter lead before outscoring CGHS 18-5 in the second quarter. The second half was much more competitive with Sedgwick holding a 23-19 advantage.
