"Our goal is to bring affordable, quality housing to Moundridge."

Meadow View Residences has opened most of its apartments, with the rest to be ready by the end of the month.

The new housing complex, located at 1101 Koehn Ave., Moundridge, had an open house and ribbon cutting Friday afternoon to celebrate the completion of its 42 two- and three-bedroom units. The complex was built by Prairie Fire Development Group, which also built Prairie Pointe in McPherson.

"Our goal is to bring affordable, quality housing to Moundridge," said Eric Mitchell, director of compliance for Prairie Fire.

Most of the units at Meadow View are income restricted, and offer lower, more affordable rents. The complex has a total of 20 two-bedroom apartments for $540 per month or less, and another 10 three-bedroom apartments for $675 per month.

The remaining 12 two-bedroom apartments are not income-restricted and cost $895 per month. Six are open now, and the remaining six are expected to become available by Jan. 31.

Applications fees are $35 per adult with a $300 deposit, with the first month's rent free.

All apartments have a garage and washer and dryer hookups with equipment available for rent. Renters pay electric and water bills but do not need to worry about maintenance.

"We have people who will take care of mowing or painting and any other maintenance," said Eric Mitchell, compliance director for Prairie Fire. "Washers and dryers are provided in the market-price units as well."

Meadow View already has people taking up residence. The hope is that with more housing at an affordable price, people will be more interested in calling Moundridge home.

"They're the nicest, newest homes in the Moundridge area," said Nick Jerkovich, director of acquisitions and asset management for Prairie Fire. "They're affordable, and they have good amenities."
