Looking for a way to add variety and intrigue to a stale reading list? Just in time for Valentine’s Day, the McPherson Public Library staff is ready to set readers up on a blind date with a book.

Stop by the service desk anytime during February and ask for a “blind date book.”

Library staff will hand out books wrapped in brown paper based on answers to a few basic reading interest questions. Unwrap the book and decide if it is worth a try.

If it is obvious right away that the book is not a good match, feel free to trade it in for another selection. Anyone brave enough to participate will receive a piece of chocolate.

This is the fifth year for the Book Blind Date event and it is back by popular demand.

“Our patrons enjoy the element of surprise with this activity,” said Shannon Brake, Marketing and Communications Manager, “and anytime we combine exploration, fun and reading, everyone has a good time.”

The program runs throughout February. For questions, contact the library at 620-245-2570 or email them at library@macpl.org.
