CLAY CENTER — The top-ranked team in Class 4A Division II was every bit as good as advertised.

No. 1 Clay Center pounced on the Smoky Valley High School girls basketball team early and never let up in a 47-21 win. Clay Center led 19-5 after the first quarter and 30-7 at halftime.

Katie Bellah and Kate Deterding combined to score 17 points to lead Smoky Valley.

The Vikings host Hoisington on Tuesday.
