RURAL VISTA — Canton-Galva High School has come a long way since the first week of the season.

Back on Dec. 2, the Eagles were blown out by Rural Vista, the top team in the Wheat State League, by 19 points.

Tuesday night was a different story with the same ending.

Despite 13 points from Jonah Sargent, the Eagles fell 40-36 in a game that was close all night.

“We had a nice game tonight,” head coach Shane Duncan said. “We took care of the ball much better than we did the first time we played them. Rural Vista is a very good and experienced team.”

Rural Vista nailed a 3-pointer as the first half expired for a 27-21 halftime lead. The Eagles fought back down the stretch, and had a chance to tie the game on the final possession, but a turnover sealed the win for Rural Vista.

Hunter Pearson had a solid game with nine points an nine rebounds. The Eagles are back in action on Friday against Elyria.
