BAXTER SPRINGS - This week the BNSF Railway plans to close and repair its crossing located on U.S. 166 approximately one-half mile west of the U.S. 166/69A/400 junction at Baxter Springs. BNSF will close the crossing to traffic from 7 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, until 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13, weather permitting.
Traffic will follow a signed detour on state highways during the closure. The detour for eastbound U.S. 166 traffic is as follows: from the U.S. 166/69 junction travel north on U.S. 69 to the U.S. 69/K-7/U.S. 160 junction at Columbus, east on U.S. 160 to the U.S. 160/69A/400 junction at Crestline, and south on U.S. 69A/400 to the U.S. 166/69A/400 junction. Westbound traffic on U.S. 166 should follow the same route in the opposite direction.
