LOST SPRINGS — The Elyria Christian School girls basketball team was in good shape after taking a 7-0 lead into the second quarter against Solomon on Saturday.

The Eagles were in even better position when they took a 15-2 lead into halftime. But in the second half, Solomon woke up and pulled off an incredible comeback, defeating Elyria 27-23.

“This was definitely a tale of two halves,” Elyria head coach Greg Fields said. “Solomon came out hitting some tough shots in the third quarter, and it seemed to open up the floodgates. We need to find a way to finish our open looks that we get and control the ball a little better under pressure.”

While no doubt a disappointing loss, Saturday will be a big learning experience for the Eagles.

“I thought our girls did a nice job keeping their composure after we let a big lead slip away,” Fields said. “We executed our half court offense for the most part and continued to play solid defense in the fourth quarter.”

The Eagles are back in action on Friday when they travel to Herington
