WINFIELD — The Swedes improved to 18-10 and 14-7 in the KCAC with a 63-46 victory over the Builders.

Although the Builders jumped out to an early lead but the Swedes quickly took over with a 6-0 run.

The Builders got right back into it and led by two at the end of the first. Southwestern held a steady lead for the majority of the second quarter as the two teams continued to battle. With 43 seconds left the Swedes tied the game for the fourth time and went up by three at the end of the first half for the seventh lead change.

The Builders tied it up once again a few minutes into the third but this time when the Swedes grabbed the lead they never looked back, leading by 11 at the end of the third. Into the fourth the Swedes increased their lead to 15. The Builders looked as if they would chip away at the lead cutting it to seven. The Swedes regained control going on to win by seventeen, the largest lead of the game.

The Swedes high scorer was Marissa Pope, junior guard, who finished with 18 points while Lauren Welsch, sophomore guard, added 13 points and 13 rebounds for her second consecutive double double and third of the season. Sydney Ahaneku, senior center, also contributed seven points and 14 rebounds to the Swedes cause.

The Swedes wrap up regular season action against Sterling at 5 p.m. on Feb. 17.
