Central Christian College’s Abbie Banks launched a three pointer from the right wing on Feb. 17 at Southwestern Christian University, with just over a minute gone in the fourth quarter.

The ball, as it has done 332 other times in her career, found the bottom of the net. The significance of this shot, on this night, is that as the ball went through the hoop, it put Abbie into some very select company in Tiger women’s basketball history.

That made three pointer gave her 1001 points for her career, putting her into a club that only 5 other Tiger women’s basketball players, in the NAIA era, find themselves in. Abbie joins Christy Pyle, Chelsea McHenry, Jodi Wright, Felicia Stevenson, and Samantha Graves as the only members of the Tiger Women’s Basketball team’s 1000 point club. She is the first since Samantha Grave accomplished the feat back in 2012.

Abbie has played in 82 games in her Tiger career, and has started most of those games at point guard. She is a career 32.9 percent shooter from the floor, making 333 of 1012 shots. From behind the 3 point arc she has shot 30 percent in her career, knocking down 192 of 641 attempts. She also has 358 rebounds, 265 assists, 175 steals, and amazingly at 5’2, she has 32 blocks in her 3 years in a Tiger uniform.
