Thirteen members of Happy Homemakers Family and Community Education unit met at 7 p.m. on Feb. 26 at the home of Lizetta Stout, with Fran Stucky serving as co-hostess.
Lizetta Stout, chairman of the Education Committee, presented some facts about Alzheimer’s disease.
Each month, this committee’s members will be presenting additional data to increase awareness of this disease, which they chose at the year’s Education Program.
A monetary donation was collected, to be set aside and increased by future monthly collections, and distributed at the year’s end to organizations of the Community Improvement committee’s choice.
A short business meeting was held, followed by Fran Stucky giving the lesson, “Kids in the Kitchen.”
Fran has much experience helping children learn cooking skills, beginning with her own children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as teaching two-week summer classes for the YMCA entitled, “Cooking is Fun”.
Additionally, prior to retirement, Fran taught classes in Family and Consumer Science at McPherson High School.
Members shared how they had benefited from hearing the lesson.
The next meeting will be held on March 26 at the home of Jean Cooper.
