HASTINGS, Neb. – The Swedes softball team fell in two games this week at the hands of the Hastings Broncos. Bethany fell 8-3 before losing in a heartbreaking walk off 3-2 in nine innings in game two.
Hastings scored early any often in game one, they scores three runs in the bottom of the first before the Swedes were able to steal one back in the top of the third inning. However, the Broncos were able to answer with two of their own in the bottom half of that inning. Bethany added two in the fifth inning, but again, Hastings was able to answer with three in during their time at the plate.
The Swedes scores three runs on eight hits, while the Broncos had eight runs on 13 hits.
Bethany took an early lead in game two, plating a run in the top of the first inning.
Hastings then scored one in the bottom of the third. The teams were then locked in at one run each until the eighth inning when they each added a single run to their total. However, the Broncos were able to add one more in the bottom of the ninth to take the game.
Hastings recorded eight hits during the game while the Swedes had four.
Up next, the Swedes next begin their conference run with a double header at Bethel in North Newton, on March 21. The first game is set for 1 p.m.
