Donald R. Glahn, 84, of McPherson, passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 28  at The Cedars, McPherson. He was a retired computer programmer for Farmer’s Alliance Insurance Co., where he had worked for 37 years.

He  was born on July 8, 1934, in McPherson, the son of Henry and Gladys (Vermillion) Glahn.  

He graduated from Roxbury High School in 1952.  He also graduated from Central College and McPherson College. 

He  was united in marriage to Christine “Chris” J. Bergstrom on Jan. 24, 1959, in Salina.  The couple just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church where he was a member of United Methodist Men, sang in the church choir, and taught Happy Notes Sunday School Class for over 25 years.  He was also a member of Jaycee’s and the McPherson Optimist Club.  He was a former Scout Master of Troop No. 117. 

Survivors include: his wife, Christine “Chris” Glahn of the home; daughter, Cheryl Lundberg (Kevin) of Spring Hill; son, Stephen Glahn (Michelle) of Marion; four grandchildren, April Milchesky (Chris) of Yukon, Okla., Donald Tysdal of Moore, Okla., Timothy Glahn (Heather) of McLouth; and Janet Klenda (Brian) of Hillsboro; and 12 great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Dean Glahn, and sister, Glenna Olson.

The family will receive friends from 1  to 3 p.m, Sunday, Feb. 3, at Stockham Family Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Monday, Feb. 4, at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Lacey Wheeler officiating.  A graveside service will be at 2  p.m., Monday, Feb. 4, at Valley View Cemetery, Roxbury.
