Edward George Griffith’s, 84, of Lindsborg, passed away on Feb. 5, 2019. Ed was born on Dec. 8, 1934 in Abilene to Joe and Edna Griffith’s.
He graduated from Chapman High School and attended Hutchinson Community College and Emporia State University, majoring in art. He served in the U.S. Army in San Francisco, California where he met and married Janice Marie Bruel on Dec. 29, 1957.
Ed worked for Archer Daniels Midland for 36 years as a milling engineer, traveling all over the U.S. building flour mills. He retired from ADM in 1997.

Ed is survived by his children: Cindy Griffith’s Akagi of Wichita; Chris Campbell of Mayetta; Carla Wilson (Ron) of Lindsborg, CJ Griffith’s of Mayetta; and Cory Griffith’s (Kellie) of Hutchinson, nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and his sisters, Edna Mae Swanson of Enterprise, and Minnie Ann Sears of Greensburg.
Ed was a faithful member of Messiah Lutheran Church, the Lions Club of Lindsborg and the Kansas Figure Drawing Club. He enjoyed playing cards regularly with friends in McPherson and attending the monthly ADM retirees get-together in Salina.
Even though he did not farm for a living, he was a farmer at heart. He loved driving down the back roads and around the sections to check out the crops. He also loved playing golf and had many golf buddies. Ed was a great father to his five children and he cherished the time in his later years that he got to spend with them every weekend. He also enjoyed traveling and took several trips with his children, his favorite going back to Wisconsin and Minnesota to visit good friends from when the family lived there in the 1960s. Ed loved his grandchildren dearly and in this last year he welcomed two great-grandchildren into the world.
Ed was a great dad and good friend to many and he will be missed by all. Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 9 from 1-4 p.m. at his farm home, 1289 Sioux Rd, Lindsborg. The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10 at Messiah Lutheran Church, Lindsborg. Flowers may be sent to the church, 402 N. First Street, Lindsborg, KS 67456.
