The McPherson City Commission met Monday for their regular meeting at the Municipal Center, 400 E. Kansas Ave. and here’s what you need to know:

Applicants needed for commissioner position

 City Clerk and Human Resources Officer Tamra Seely, presented information on the upcoming elections stating that anyone interested in filing for Commissioner of Public Lands and Facilities or Commissioner of Public Works may do so by going to the McPherson County Clerk’s office. The filing deadline is noon on June 3.

There is a filing fee of $20 or one can also file with a nomination petition.  

If a primary election, is necessary it will be held on Aug. 6.

The regular election will be held on Nov. 5.  The Commissioners will begin office on the second Monday in January 2020.  

Building Inspector report given

The year-to-date cost for 2019 is $16,000,024 as compared to 5,937,190 in 2018. There have been 81 permits this year as compared to last years 56, thought the inspection quantity is about the same with 69 versus 67 last year.

Current projects include TerraNova Storm Shelter Phase 2 apartments, Viega Expansion Number Two Viega Racking System Building, Best Western, Community Center renovations and the Walmart remodel. 

Upcoming projects include the Disability Supports project.

Barnstormers Update

There has been no work on the Barnstormers project due to unfavorable weather conditions.
