The Canton-Galva Elementary School recently participated in a "Pennies for Patients" campaign with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The campaign began on Feb. 4 and ran until March 1 where CGES raised $3,231.
The CGES StuCo members scheduled several events throughout the campaign. The first week of the campaign, StuCo members sold CRUSH pop cans to students for $1. The students could buy the pop cans for themselves or anyone else in the school and StuCo delivered these cans on Valentine's Day.
Another event StuCo hosted was Spirit Week, some of the spirit days were "PJ Day" where students brought pennies to wear their PJ's and "Green Day" where students brought dollar bills and dressed up in all green.
One very special 2nd grader, Haven Oliver, raised over $1,500 by herself. She had lots of support through her father's work and she worked diligently on getting donations. It was amazing to see all the students participate and enjoy the campaign. CGES students can't wait for next year's campaign.
