As temperatures warm up, more students will be walking to and from school. Our Crossing Guards are in several of the School Zones throughout the city, on weekdays, from 7 to 8:30 a.m. and 3 to 3:30 p.m., to help insure the safety of the children crossing the street. For the safety of the children and the Crossing Guards, Crossing Guards wear bright green vests and have Red Stop signs. Orders from Crossing Guards are required to be obeyed.
Standard Traffic Ordinance 64.1 states, no person shall willfully fail or refuse to comply with any lawful order or direction of any uniformed school crossing guard invested by law with authority to direct, control, or regulate traffic.
Please be attentive, drive carefully, and obey the Crossing Guards, to help us keep the children and Crossing Guards safe in the School Zones.
