David Ray Lewis, 63, of Canton, and formerly of McPherson, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 25, 2019, at Bethesda Home, Goessel. David worked as a cook at Mr. B’s Restaurant, Pear Tree Restaurant, Red Coach Restaurant, and Sir Robert’s Family Restaurant. He also was a machine operator at Spartech.
David was born on Aug. 24, 1955, in Belleville, the son of Bobby Lee and Marvel Berniece (Lyons) Lewis. He graduated from McPherson High School in 1973 and received his Associate’s Degree from Hutchinson Community College. David was united in marriage to George Ann Pearson on June 25, 1977, in McPherson.
He was a member of Galva Christian Church, Galva.
Survivors include: wife, George Ann Lewis of the home; sister, Kara Smith and husband, Terry, of Goodland; uncle, Jim Lewis (Mitzie) of Salina; aunt, Helen Shaffer of Belleville; five nieces and nephews, Angela O’Dell (Billy), Andy Buller, Britney Smith (Kameron Duncan), Nicole Ploeger (Matt), and Emily Smith; two great-nephews, Weston Toplikar and Andrew Ploeger; and other extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Terry Lewis, and sister, Kim Buller.
Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, March 29, 2019, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, March 30, at Galva Christian Church with Pastor Tripp Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Canton Township Cemetery.
