A night of pancakes, pride and prizes was where Canton-Galva families were for the annual Canton-Galva Elementary School PTO Family Fun Night on March 28.
The event kicked off with Chris Cakes entertaining with a pancake feed where you can choose to “catch” your food.
The families then were invited to participate in four different stations from BINGO, Book walk, Minute to Win It games and a sixth Grade Play of which our Junior class wrote the script as part of a current project.
We ended the night with a teacher appreciation from our StuCo and our largest raffle ever of over 50 raffle prizes that the students could enter to win. Students were able to earn as many raffle tickets as they could by showing school pride, being respectful, thoughtful, helpful and good listeners throughout the week, adding life skills to the fun.
With many ongoing efforts in the district to collaborate and grow, we had many of our high school students volunteer their time to help throughout the evening as well. The junior class shared with the attendees about their current Project Based Learning Project they are in the middle of which is centered around ensuring growth and success in our district. As part of the project, they are creating a commercial to show all the great things about our USD 419 family. To increase awareness and excitement, they created a trailer video as a teaser of what is yet to come this year that was shared.
The class has done a great job with this project as it requires students to think outside the box to traditional textbook learning and involving our communities and students in all grades. We can’t wait to see the full commercial. Thank you to the teachers, staff, volunteers, CGHS Junior Class and our sponsors for making the night happen.
