LINDSBORG — A dominant regular season came to a close for the Smoky Valley High School boys tennis team in ideal fashion.
The Vikings won their home tournament with ease as they prepare for the Central Kansas League meet on Monday. Following league is the regional tournament with state hopefully after that.
If Smoky Valley can continue its high level of play into the postseason, the Vikings have potential to bring home hardware at state.
Despite going with a different lineup, Smoky Valley still won its home invitational with ease, scoring 56 points compared to second-place Sterling’s 44 points.
Doubles partners Jake Lucas and Matt Lucas both played singles — Jake took second while Matt finished fifth.
This allowed Cole Brumbaugh and Johan Rauchholz to team up and win the doubles draw. The Vikings polished off the day with an eighth-place finish from Carson Byers and Cade Schneider.
Pratt High School is the host of the CKL meet and will begin at 9 a.m. Monday morning.
