Burglar steals vehicle after being chased from home

SALINA — A Salina man was arrested Thursday morning after he allegedly stole a vehicle from a Salina residence. Billy Beamon, 53, of Salina, was arrested based on recommended charges of aggravated burglary, felony theft, and driving while suspended.

A 57-year old Salina man told police he woke up about 4 a.m. Thursday in his residence in the 300 block of South Fourth Street to discover another man in the living room. The victim said he chased the man out of the living room and down the block.

The victim later heard his vehicle, a Silver 2003 Ford F-150, start up and leave his driveway. Hanus said police believe the suspect stole the keys from inside the home.

Officers on patrol in west Salina located the vehicle, valued at $3,200, at the intersection of Centennial and Crawford about 4:25 a.m. Thursday. Police conducted a traffic stop and arrested Beamon.


Cyclist hurt in Hutchinson hit-and-run

HUTCHINSON — A Lyons man was hospitalized after hit on his bicycle Wednesday night in Hutchinson.

Jessie A. Thurman, 36, reported to Hutchinson police someone struck his bike at Fourth Avenue and Ford Street about 10 p.m. and then left the scene.

The police report did not list a description of the suspect vehicle.

Thurman was listed in fair condition Thursday at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.
