No one was injured when a semi sideswiped a school bus carrying 13 students, ages 14-17 from McPherson and Inman, about 2 p.m. Tuesday in Saline County.

The crash took place on I-135, about 0.9 miles south of the Mentor Road exit. No one was injured during the crash, according to a report from the Kansas Highway Patrol.

The bus attempted to pass the semi, and the semi swerved into the bus, sideswiping it, the report stated.

McPherson High School Coach Jace Pavlovich acknowledged the collision on Twitter.

“FYI-our bus did get side swiped by a semi on the interstate,” he wrote Tuesday. “Everyone is OK thanks to the skilled driving by our bus driver.”

Ernest Clifton White Jr., 75, of Assaria, drove the school bus. Patrick Corcoran, 38, of McPherson, was a passenger on the bus.

Thomas Smith, 59, of Dakota City, Nebraska, drove the semi.
